Chelsea are reportedly looking to hijack Arsenal's chase for a new striker by targeting one of their top prospects, Viktor Gyokeres.
The Blues have reached out to Sporting to discuss what it would take to make a deal happen as Maresca remains keen to build a squad capable of challenging Liverpool for the title next season.
Gyokeres has been on fire this season, scoring an incredible 54 goals in 52 games to help Sporting defend their league title, making last year’s tally of 43 goals look modest by comparison.
Sporting are said to be open to a deal, but only for a fee between £55 million and £70 million, and according to Portuguese outlet Record, both Chelsea and Italian side Juventus are keen on making a deal happen.
🚨 Chelsea have joined Juventus in making a formal enquiry with Sporting over the signing of Viktor Gyökeres, who is also wanted by Arsenal.

The Blues just sealed a £30 million deal for Ipswich’s Liam Delap, yet it’s obvious they’re not done.
Manager Enzo Maresca is pushing to build a squad that can compete for every trophy next season, and a strong transfer window will be crucial to making that happen.
Gyokeres is easily one of the most exciting names out there, and it’ll be interesting to see how this story plays out.
