Besiktas grant Ndidi leave to bury his father
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will travel to Nigeria tomorrow, February 10th, for his father's funeral, after securing permission from his club, Benfica.
Ndidi loses father
As Pulse Sports reported, Sunday Ndidi, the father of Super Eagles captain Wilfred, died on January 27th after he was involved in a fatal car crash.
Ndidi Snr was involved in a road accident in the Umunede area of Delta. He was taken to a hospital in Agbor, where he passed away from injuries sustained during the crash.
Despite suffering from immense grief, Ndidi participated in training the following day and has played for Besiktas since the incident. He is now set to travel to Nigeria to bury his father.
Ndidi set for Nigeria trip
According to Mansethaber, Ndidi has been granted permission by the club and technical staff to travel to Delta State, Nigeria, to bury his father.
Besiktas have been supportive of Ndidi since the loss. As Pulse Sports reported, the Black Eagles held a special tribute for the late Sunday Ndidi.
The tribute took place just before their clash against Konyaspor. The atmosphere at the Tupras Stadium was heavy with emotion, with the club and fans coming together to console their grieving skipper. Besiktas had also previously released a statement expressing their deep sadness.
