After a disgraceful 2024/25 season, Manchester United's Ruben Amorim will be not be sparing any bad apples
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is eager to stamp his authority on the squad, with reports claiming the Portuguese tactician is set to leave out four first-team players from the club’s upcoming pre-season tour of the United States.
According to The Sun, Amorim is determined to exile the quartet and make it clear they have no future at Old Trafford under his leadership.
Garnacho faces exile alongside Rashford, Sancho, and Antony
While some might have expected Antony or Jadon Sancho to be shown the door given their well-documented struggles, Alejandro Garnacho’s problems with Amorim have been more recent and sudden.

The Argentine was one of United’s brighter sparks during a disastrous 2024/25 campaign, yet his public criticism following the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham is believed to have been the final straw.
Amorim reportedly told Garnacho to find a new club in front of his teammates, putting the academy graduate’s future at the club in jeopardy.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have both endured tough seasons on and off the pitch. Sancho spent the year out on loan after clashing with former manager Erik ten Hag, while Rashford’s form dipped drastically.
As for Antony, his performances and consistency have come under scrutiny since his big-money arrival from Ajax, but a revival while on loan at Real Betis has led to calls for Amorim to consider bringing him back into the fold.
Tough love ahead as Amorim aims to revive Man United’s broken identity
A source quoted in The Sun explained, “Amorim is stamping his authority on the club... He only wants players who would die for the shirt.”

After finishing 15th in the Premier League, the lowest in Manchester United’s Premier League history, Amorim is expected to ring the changes. His approach includes reducing the squad size to foster stronger unity and more game time for those aligned with his tactics.
The 2025/26 Premier League fixture list hasn’t done the Portuguese coach any favours either, with United handed the toughest opening schedule of all Premier League teams.

Still, Amorim appears determined to build a squad with no “bad apples”, regardless of status or sentiment, meaning Manchester United could be in for a dramatic shake-up both on and off the pitch this summer.
