Lookman speaks on performance

Reflecting on his Man of the Match award, Lookman expressed his satisfaction with the team's overall display.

"Three points on the board, so it's a step in the right direction," he said. "We dominated from the first half to the second half. They had a spell where they scored two goals, but overall we were very good today."

The deadlock was broken just before halftime when Victor Osimhen headed in a precise delivery from Lookman in the 44th minute to give Nigeria a 1-0 lead going into the break.

Nigeria extended their advantage after the restart, with captain Wilfred Ndidi scoring his first-ever international goal, once again assisted by Lookman.

The winger then turned scorer himself, putting Nigeria firmly in control with a 3-0 lead midway through the second half.

Despite what seemed like an insurmountable lead for Eric Chelle's team, Tunisia mounted a late comeback.

Montassar Talbi pulled one back with a header in the 74th minute, and Ali Abdi converted a penalty in the 87th minute to set up a tense finale.

Lookman has now been involved in four goals (two goals, two assists) at the 2025 AFCON, a total unmatched by any other player after the first two rounds of group matches.
