Nigeria drawn in Group C
Alongside Tunisia, Nigeria will also face Uganda and Tanzania in Group C of the 2025 AFCON, a relatively straightforward group for the superior Super Eagles.
The Super Eagles are the team with the most AFCON titles in the group, boasting three titles, while Tunisia have just the one, with Uganda and Tanzania yet to taste glory on the continent.
Ivory Coast, who hosted the last edition and beat Nigeria in the final have been drawn in Group F alongside Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique.
The Elephants will be hoping to repeat the trick, this time on foreign soil, as they bid to become the first AFCON winners to defend their title since Egypt in 2010.
AFCON 2025 draw in full
In addition to the key ties involving last year’s finalists, the AFCON draw also pits favourites Egypt against South Africa in a group that also includes Zimbabwe and last year’s quarterfinalists, Angola.
Hosts Morocco will be in Group A alongside 2012 champions Zambia as well as Mali and Comoros, while traditional powerhouses Senegal will vie against DR Congo, Benin Republic, and Botswana.
Algeria, who were unceremoniously knocked out in the group stage at the last two AFCONs since becoming champions in 2019 will get the chance to redeem their image in a group that also includes Burkina Faso, Equatorial Guinea, and Angola.
