Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Ademola Lookman, but only as a Plan B.
Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are gearing up to strengthen their attack in the coming weeks, with interest in a host of names.
While the London side are targeting a number 9, a versatile winger is also on the radar, and Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman has emerged as a key Plan B if their primary target, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, proves unattainable.

Transfer News: Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman gets Barcelona boost
The Super Eagles star and African best has emerged as one of Barcelona’s top transfer targets this summer.
According to Corriere della Sera, Arsenal are “aiming” to sign the Nigerian star, offering £43m plus bonuses, though Atalanta are holding firm for £52m for the former RB Leipzig man.
Arteta’s prime focus is Rodrygo, valued at £78m by Real Madrid, but the Brazilian has yet to give the green light. The Gunners are willing to wait, hoping to secure him for less, but if the deal stalls, Lookman is their clear backup.

Lookman enjoyed a stellar 2024-25 season at Atalanta, scoring 20 goals and adding seven assists, often playing as a second striker, and he could offer Arteta a valuable and versatile solution in attack.
At £43m, Lookman represents fair value for a player approaching his prime, turning 28 in October and capable of shining for another three to four years. If Rodrygo remains out of reach, Arsenal’s pursuit of Lookman could heat up quickly.
