Super Falcons star Rinsola Babajide has paid a tribute to Jota with goal against Tunisia

Nigeria's Super Falcons star Rinsola Babajide, has honoured Diogo Jota with her goal celebration against Tunisia.

Rinsola who started her career with Liverpool women performed Diogo Jota's distinctive "binoculars" celebration after scoring Super Falcons second goal against Tunisia.

The gesture, often seen from the Portuguese forward after he finds the back of the net for Liverpool, was replicated by Rinsola to honour Jota.

Rinsola, who previously played for Liverpool FC Women, has openly expressed her support for the Premier League giant in this mourning situation.

Jota’s death

Diogo Jota and his younger brother Andre Silva, tragically died in a car crash in Spain on Thursday.

According to Spanish authorities and eyewitness reports, the accident occurred near Zamora, in northwestern Spain, when the Lamborghini they were in veered off the A-52 highway and caught fire. Initial investigations suggest a tire blowout may have caused the vehicle to lose control.

The tragic news has sent shockwaves through the football world, coming just days after Jota's wedding. His funeral was held on Saturday, in Gondomar, Portugal, attended by family, friends, and teammates from Liverpool and the Portuguese national team.

Jota joined Liverpool in 2020 and was instrumental in their recent successes, including winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and League Cup titles. He had recently helped Portugal win the UEFA Nations League.
