Maduka Okoye has sparked buzz over his baby boy’s football future in a heartfelt post.
Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has reminded fans he is all about fatherhood, faith, and football.
The 25-year-old hunk, often dubbed the “most handsome man in Nigerian football,” recently shared rare snaps with his son after months of speculation and controversy.
Taking to Snapchat, Okoye gave fans a glimpse into his personal life, proudly posting images of his two-year-old toddler.
One touching caption read, “Project Osimhen”, an apparent nod to Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, fuelling speculation that Okoye may be grooming his son to follow in the footsteps of one of Africa’s greatest football exports.
“Being with you is all I want”: Okoye shows softer side with his son
Alongside the adorable images, the German-born shot stopper added an emotional message that tugged at the heartstrings of fans.
The message read:
“Hold me, look at me and be quiet for a moment because being with you is all I want.”
The post comes after a period of scrutiny surrounding Okoye’s role as a father.
In recent months, the Udinese shot-stopper faced public backlash over allegations of being absent from his son’s life, a rumour that his latest posts appear to dispel.
The story behind Maduka Okoye’s son’s name
Okoye shares his son with stunning Amsterdam-based model and influencer Jelicia Westhoff, who has also been vocal about the deeply personal inspiration behind their baby’s name: Isiah Emil Okoye.
In an Instagram post, Jelicia referenced the powerful Bible verse Isaiah 41:10, writing:
“So do not fear, for I am with you: do not be dismayed, for I am your God… I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” She added, “My son’s beautiful name for this reason Isiah Emil Okoye.”
Interestingly, Emil is also part of Okoye’s full name, Maduka Emilio Okoye, making the naming a heartfelt tribute to both faith and family.
Though Okoye is still in the prime of his career, his “Project Osimhen” hint has ignited fan hopes of seeing another Okoye guard the posts—or maybe lead the line in attack.
While it's too early to predict the toddler’s path, Okoye appears to be loving his role as a doting father.
