You're not on my level - Fred Kerley and Ferdinand Omanyala escalate their feud on social media
Former world champion Fred Kerley and Kenya's speedster Ferdinand Omanyala have taken to social media to exchange insults, reigniting their rivalry.
In an Instagram story, the American speedster directly addressed "Africa's Fastest Man," asking, "@ferdiomanyala tell them why you change to track and field?" This pointed question followed another post by Kerley, which featured a video from 2023 of Omanyala declaring, "I’m not losing any 100m this year."
The video then cuts to the Rabat Diamond League 100m race from that same season, where Kerley is seen storming past Omanyala to win in 9.94 seconds. Omanyala finished third with a time of 10.05, behind South Africa's Akani Simbine (9.99). Kerley's repost served as a sharp reminder of their previous on-track encounter.
Rivalry heats up on social media
The recent online spat appears to have been triggered by Omanyala, who posted an Instagram story aimed at the American. "You can have all the medals in the world, but at the end of your career, you have no legacy," the Kenyan wrote, tagging Kerley.
Kerley’s response was swift and dismissive. "Like bro, you not on the level you think you on sit down," he retorted, adding, "1 and done race every year @ferdiomanyala. I got medal in different event." In another story, Kerley posted a screenshot of their head-to-head record from the official World Athletics website, which shows the American leading their matchups 8-3.

Ironically, as their war of words continues, track and field fans will not get to see them have a track showdown, as Kerley has joined the drug-using Enhanced Games, which disqualifies him from professionally competing on the World Athletics circuit.
