You can't change the past! Atalanta CEO tells Lookman what he must do to return to starting XI
Atalanta's season has so far been dominated by the transfer saga involving Ademola Lookman, who pushed for a summer move to Serie A rivals Inter Milan.
The Nigeria international went AWOL from training for two weeks in an attempt to force the transfer. After the window closed and the move was denied, the reigning CAF Player of the Year was effectively frozen out of the first-team picture and has yet to play a single minute this season.
The Bergamo side have clearly suffered in his absence, with only one win from four matches, including a heavy 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Atalanta CEO sends message to Ademola Lookman
Head coach Ivan Juric recently stated he would not beg the winger to play for the club, and now Percassi has echoed that sentiment, declaring Lookman must show he is committed to the team.
"You cannot go back and change the past, so we will focus on the present and future," Percassi told Sky Sport Italia.
"We all know how good Ademola is, but also that in order to play for Atalanta, you must be 100 per cent focused."
The CEO concluded by making it clear that the ball is now in the player's court. "When he feels ready to do that, we are waiting for him with open arms."
Lookman scored 20 goals in 41 appearances for La Dea last season, and will certainly be a huge boost for manager Juric as the season progresses.
