World Championships: Tobi Amusan storms to historic final in Budapest

World Record holder Tobi Amusan's quest to defend her women's 100m Hurdles world title continued after winning her semifinal race to qualify for the final at the World Championships in Budapest.

Despite having a poor start, Amusan's top-end speed over the hurdles did the magic as she out-dipped Jamaica's Ackera Nugent at the finish line to win the race in 12.56s.

Nugent settled for the second automatic qualifying spot in 12.60s, ahead of Nadine Visser third in 12.62s.

The first semifinal saw USA's Keni Harrison continue with her impressive form at the championship, clocking 12.33s (0.5), with Devyne Charlton second in 12.49s, edging Ditaji Kambundji who placed third in 12.50s.

Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn didn't have the best of starts either but motored nicely to win the third semifinal in a time of 12.41s (-0.4). Nia Ali was second in 12.49s, while Danielle Williams also qualified in 12.50s for third.

Amusan will run in the final, gunning to make a second history by becoming the first Nigerian athlete to be crowned a two-time World champion in any athletics event.
