Wolves midfielder goes on strike to force transfer to Manchester City

Wolves rejected Manchester City’s opening bid of around £47m for Nunes and are believed to be holding out for an offer in the region of £60m.

The player has refused to train for the past two days as he hopes both clubs can reach an agreement before the close of the transfer window.

Pep Guardiola is eager to add to his midfield options following the departure of Ilkay Gundogan and subsequent long-term injury suffered by Kevin De Bruyne.

West Ham's Lucas Paqueta was targetted by City but a deal failed to materialise after the midfielder was subject to an investigation by the English FA into alleged betting breaches.

The club then turned their attention to Wolves' Nunes who is currently valued at just over £60m according to reports.

Wolves, however, remain in a strong position given Nunes is under contract until 2027. 

The club is also relaxed as they hold a 12-month option on the player and are prepared to reintegrate him into the team should he remain at the club beyond the transfer window.
