Will she be ready? Sha'Carri Richardson's training video raises concerns ahead of US Championships
With less than a week to the start of the US Track and Field Championships, Sha'Carri Richardson's readiness for the highly anticipated meet has raised concerns following a recent training video.
The reigning world champion who has had a troubled start to the 2025 season, seems to still be struggling with her mates at training.
In a recent video posted by FloTrack as part of their Workout Wednesday series, they caught up with Dennis Mitchell's Star Athletics group as the team gears up for the 2025 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
The short clip of the yet-to-be-released full video captured the women's sprint team featuring Richardson, Tee Tee Terry, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Kayla White, and Tonea Marshall practicing their block starts.
From the clip, Richardson looked to still be rusty and was last from the the block starts, thus raising concerns on her full fitness and if she'll be ready for fierce racing at the US Championships.
She has only raced twice this season at the Seiko Grand Prix in April (clocked 11.47s to finish fourth) and the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League (ran 11.19s for ninth) - results due to her just recovering from an injury that affected her training and preparations for the year.
Richardson has declared to run the 100m and 200m at the US Championships, in which fellow track stars Gabby Thomas and training partner Jefferson-Wooden will also be doing the same events.
Despite having a bye to Tokyo as the reigning world 100m champion, the sprint queen still opted to run both events - a decision which may be due to her fine-tuning preparations by having more races under her belt before the World Championships in September.
However, with the training video clip, it remains to be seen if Richardson will shake off the rustiness on time and put up her usual stunning performance at every US Championships she has competed at to date.
