Why we failed to beat Crystal Palace — Chelsea boss Maresca explains
Enzo Maresca has attempted to explain his team's failure to take all three points against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Chelsea boss attributed the 1-1 draw to a lack of clinical finishing, subtly pointing fingers at the likes of Nicolas Jackson, who missed good openings.
Despite taking the lead through Cole Palmer, the Blues were unable to hold on for the win, conceding a late equalizer to Jean-Philippe Mateta.
Speaking after the match, Maresca expressed his frustration at the missed opportunities.
"We did enough to win the game today. Between the first and second halves, we created enough chances to win the game, but we need to be clinical," he said.
Maresca also lamented the late goal conceded by his team, adding,
"Unfortunately, in the end, we conceded, but overall, I think we did enough to win the game."
Up next for Chelsea is an FA Cup third round clash against Morecambe at Stamford Bridge next weekend.
