Arne Slot has revealed that striker Alexander Isak was substituted at half-time of their 5-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League due to a physical concern.

The victory, which featured Isak and Hugo Ekitike leading the attack, emphatically ended Liverpool’s four-game losing run.

However, the club’s injury worries persist, with Isak now joining Alisson Becker, Ibrahima Konate, and Wataru Endo in doubt ahead of this weekend's Premier League trip to Brentford.

Speaking after the game, Slot explained that the £125 million record signing, who missed three months of action earlier this year, reported feeling discomfort.

“Isak had to go off at half time because he felt his groin a little bit, so that’s a pity.”

Slot expressed his frustration at the delicate situation, emphasizing the difficulty of managing a player who has missed a significant amount of training.

"But I’ve said it many times, it’s such a difficult balance to find with a player that missed out three months. We hope for the best but it’s not the easiest balance to find if the player’s been out for so long.”

Isak is now highly unlikely to be fit for the Brentford match on Saturday as Liverpool seek to build momentum.

Goalkeeper Alisson is also ruled out until the end of the month with a hamstring problem.
