West Ham vs Liverpool - Isak ends goal drought as the Reds return to winning ways, relieving pressure on Slot
Arne Slot's side have struggled in the last couple of weeks, having lost their last three games in a row.
They suffered a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League, putting Slot's position under pressure.
However, they were able to fight and get a 2-0 victory over the Hammers, ending their losing streak.
As it happened
Nuno Espirito Santo made three changes to the West Ham side that drew with Bournemouth, as reported by the BBC.
Arne Slot made two changes to the Liverpool side, who were beaten 3-0 by Nottingham Forest last Saturday. Florian Wirtz replaced Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones was replaced by Joe Gomez.
Both teams started the game very cautiously and could not create a lot of chances to open the scoring in the first half.
However, in the second half, Liverpool took the lead, with Alexander Isak scoring to end his goal drought since joining the Reds.
West Ham were then reduced to 10 men following Lucas Paqueta’s red card, allowing Liverpool to control the game.
Cody Gakpo then sealed the win in injury time, after beating the Hammers' goalkeeper Alphonse Areola from close range.
The Reds ended the game with a 2-0 win over West Ham and returned to winning ways after three straight losses.
