'We’re winning the Tournament' - Ojo Olorunleke backs Super Eagles for AFCON glory
Former Enyimba goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke has expressed strong belief in Nigeria’s chances of lifting the Africa Cup of Nations trophy, declaring that the team is firmly on course for success if they maintain focus and momentum.
The former Enyimba FC shot-stopper was part of the Nigerian squad that finished second at the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, giving him firsthand experience of the demands of the tournament.
What Ojo said
Sharing his thoughts on the Super Eagles’ campaign, the former international struck an optimistic tone while stressing the importance of mental discipline.
“Oh, we’re winning the tournament if we keep on winning our games. By so doing, remaining focused and avoiding distractions is key,” he told The Lagos Voice
He also called on Nigerians to support the team beyond the pitch, emphasising the role of unity and prayers as the competition intensifies.
“While we also support the team with genuine prayers. Peace,” he added.
Nigeria, champions of Africa in 2013, finished top of Group C with a perfect record to advance to the knockout phase.
They will now face Mozambique, who qualified as one of the best third-placed teams from Group F.
