We will do it together - Super Eagles captain Troost Ekong rallies his team following Zimbabwe draw

The Nigeria national team is on the brink of missing out on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the USA.

Eric Chelle’s side played a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in their World Cup qualifying series on Tuesday evening at Uyo Stadium.

The disappointing draw has placed the Super Eagles in a difficult position, with fans lamenting about the result.

Ekong has taken to X to try to calm Nigerians and imbibe the belief that their chances of qualifying for the World Cup are not gone.

The Super Eagles captain wrote on X, “Responsibility taken. Same target ahead. We will do it together.”

Nigeria is facing a difficult challenge in Group C, with the team currently in fourth position on the table.

They have just seven points, having drawn three, lost one and won one, with the win coming against Rwanda last Friday.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will need to avoid a draw or defeat in their remaining games and hope the likes of South Africa, who is currently leading with 13 points, falter in their games left.
