What Arteta said

From Arteta's vantage point, his side dominated the tie and played better than the scoreline suggests. However, he expressed happiness that they were able to triumph.

"Against a very good side, we were very dominant, and the margins should have been much bigger, but they score a goal, and it is game on. It should have been a bigger score,” he said, per the BBC

"When you look across the league, the margins are very small, we are playing every few days and asking players to play in positions they have never played before, so I'm really happy.

"The players always have to be ready; in the warm-up there can be something, and you have to be in the right mental space. That's what I love about the team; with everything we're going through, the way we react and want to take the next step is brilliant to watch.”

Meanwhile, Arteta's side are next in action on December 30th, when they host Unai Emery's Aston Villa at the Emirates. The Villans handed Arteta's side their second league defeat earlier this month, and the Gunners will be looking to enact revenge.
