We need Osimhen: Man United legend Ferdinand begs club to sign Super Eagles striker
Man United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged the club to prioritise signing Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, highlighting him as the ideal solution to the Red Devils’ attacking struggles under manager Ruben Amorim.
Ferdinand's call comes at a critical time for Manchester United, which is exploring options to bolster its forward line this summer.

Currently, reports have linked Manchester United with Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, who could be available for £40 million if Ipswich faces relegation.
However, Ferdinand believes that Osimhen’s experience and proven goal-scoring record make him a more suitable choice for the club's immediate needs.
Osimhen has been in sensational form this season, scoring 28 goals and providing five assists in 32 matches while on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli.
His impressive performances have solidified his reputation as one of the world’s top strikers, making him one of the most sought-after forwards in Europe.
Ferdinand's enthusiasm for Osimhen is rooted in the Nigerian striker's ability to consistently deliver at the elite level.
He believes that Osimhen can not only score crucial goals but also mentor Manchester United's young forwards.
As Ferdinand emphasised in a video he shared on X, “We need someone who knows how to score and can show these young strikers at Manchester United how to do it. If I’m Man United, I’m making it happen.”
“I want someone who knows their way around the football pitch at the elite level and knows how to score at the elite level consistently. Osimhen’s done that. I want that here and now. Yes, Osimhen hasn’t played in the Premier League, but I don’t care. I think he scores wherever he goes.”
However, securing Osimhen could prove challenging for Manchester United. Napoli reportedly values the 26-year-old striker at over £70 million, which is significantly higher than the potential cost of signing Delap.
Despite this, Ferdinand's endorsement highlights the potential benefits of investing in a proven goal-scorer like Osimhen, who could transform United's fortunes in the coming seasons.
The Nigerian forward has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years, including winning the Serie A Golden Boot with Napoli during their historic 2022/23 title-winning campaign.
His performances have cemented his status as a top target for major clubs seeking to strengthen their attacking options.
Whether Man United can meet Napoli's demands remains uncertain, but Ferdinand's advocacy has reignited discussions about Osimhen's potential move to Old Trafford.
