‘We lost these players’ - Amorim admits Antony and Rashford’s departure affected Man United

Currently on loan at Aston Villa, Rashford has experienced a significant resurgence, having contributed four goals and five assists.

Antony, on the other hand, has quickly become a beloved figure at the Spanish football club Real Betis since his arrival.

Despite the departure of both players, the Red Devils have found it difficult to get back to their best and have struggled this season.

With Manchester United facing their lowest Premier League points total ever, coach Amorim stated that the dissatisfied pair needed to be transferred.

According to the Sun, Amorim said, “We lack a lot of things in the team. In January, we lost, and you are talking about Rashford and Antony, we lost these players.

“And we didn’t bring new ones, that was a risk. We are trying to do something more important. But I think that there are things here that are more important than to score 10 more goals this season.

“We can hurt the squad now but in the future it is going to help the club so I think we are on that path.”

Manchester United are proceeding with their plans to sign £62.5m forward Matheus Cunha from Wolves, indicating that the futures of Rashford and Antony likely lie away from Old Trafford.
