‘We are working to beat Nigeria’ - Mozambique star claims they are ready to unleash their weapon on Super Eagles
The Mambas are set to face the three-time African champions Nigeria on Monday at the Complexe Sportif De Fes in a highly anticipated Round of 16 match for the 2025 AFCON.
Nigeria enter the knockout stage as the clear favourite, having secured a perfect record with three wins to top their group.
With a richer history and a squad boasting superior individual talent, many expect a straightforward victory for the Super Eagles.
Guima ready for Nigeria
Speaking ahead of the match, Guima, who featured in two of Mozambique's three group games, highlighted the team's core philosophy.
"We have our weapons as a team, and we are working to beat Nigeria," Guima stated. "Our team is together, and I think that can be the difference between us and other teams because we are a very good group.
“We don't play as individual players; we play as a team. That's why our national team is growing and moving up."
While Guima is expected to play a key role in midfield, Mozambique's primary attacking threat is widely considered to be Sporting CP star Geny Catamo.
Neutralising his impact will be a crucial task for the Nigerian defence and Calvin Bassey has revealed that the team are working on their defensive structure.
In other news, Bassey has warned his Nigerian teammates not to underestimate Mozambique ahead of their round of 16 clash.
