Cristiano Ronaldo was the talking point as Portugal recorded a 5-1 victory over Poland, with the former Real Madrid superstar scoring two goals and providing an assist.

Ronaldo's goal tally for the season now stands at 15, making him the joint-top scorer in the UEFA Nations League alongside Benjamin Šeško of Slovenia.

Ronaldo's second goal with three minutes left in normal time evoked memories of his bicycle kick against Juventus.

Vitinha delivered a looping ball into the box, where Ronaldo stood unmarked. Instead of taking a touch or striking it on the volley, he leapt into a familiar position, scissor-kicking the ball into the net and capping off a near-perfect night for Portugal.

39-year-old Ronaldo has played 217 times for his country and scored 135 goals. His latest achievement has taken his career total to 910 goals for both club and country.

While Ronaldo once set his sights on reaching a monumental 1,000 career goals, he has recently adopted a more pragmatic approach.

During the Portuguese Football Federation gala, where he was honoured for his 200th international appearance, Ronaldo acknowledged that the 1,000-goal target may have been overly ambitious.

Ronaldo will be aiming to add to his tally when Portugal take on Croatia in the UEFA Nations League on Monday, November 18th.
