AFCON 2025 striker Paul Onuachu proved once again why he is one of the most feared aerial threats in the Super Lig, netting a towering header on Valentine’s Day to reclaim his throne as the league’s top scorer.
Despite a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat for Trabzonspor against a determined Fenerbahce side on Saturday night, the Nigerian giant stole the show with his header.
His 16th goal of the season officially moved him clear of his closest rival, Eldor Shomurodov, and further widened the gap between him and the reigning goal king, Victor Osimhen.

A thriller at Papara park
The encounter lived up to its derby billing, switching between moments of brilliance and defensive lapses led by Andre Onana, the hosts’ goalkeeper.
Trabzonspor struck early through Ernest Muci, but Fenerbahce quickly turned things around with clinical efficiency to lead 2-1.
Just when it seemed the Yellow Canaries will take the lead to the break, Onuachu towered above everyone to connect perfectly to a weighted cross.
The Super Eagles star powered home a header that left the goalkeeper stranded, levelling the score at 2-2 going into the break.
However, the Valentine’s Day romance ended in heartbreak for the home side when Marco Asencio struck the decisive winner for the visitors in the second half, maintaining their relentless chase of the league's leaders Galatasaray.
Onuachu’s latest striker reshuffled the leaderboard at the top of the charts, nevertheless. While Oismhen turned provider in the last outing, bagging two assists in a comprehensive win, his compatriot has remained laser-focused on finding the net.
His form this season has been nothing short of remarkable, with 16 goals and one assist in 19 watches in the Lig.
