'Osimhen can do everything' - Chelsea legend Mikel tells Blues to move on from Delap, Joao Pedro
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has urged his former club to make a decisive move for Victor Osimhen.
The ex-Blue star believes the Nigerian striker would solve the attacking issues that have plagued the team this season.
Mikel says Osimhen can do everything for Chelsea
Chelsea invested £90 million in Joao Pedro and Liam Delap last summer, but the pair have combined for just seven Premier League goals in 33 appearances, raising concerns about the club’s firepower in front of goal.
Mikel did not hesitate when asked who Chelsea should target to improve their frontline, naming Victor Osimhen as the ideal solution.
“Victor Osimhen. He can stretch the play, he can run behind, he can come short, he can score goals, he can do everything,” Mikel said.
The Galatasaray striker has built a reputation as one of Europe’s most complete forwards, combining pace, movement and clinical finishing. Mikel believes those qualities are exactly what Chelsea’s current attack lacks.
Experience needed in big moments
Beyond raw ability, Mikel stressed the importance of Osimhen’s vast experience at the highest level of club and international football.
“You need that experienced striker who’s been there, done it, knows how to win big games, knows how to score in big games, knows how to be in the right place at the right time,” he added.
For Mikel, the issue is not simply about potential but about reliability when it matters most, especially for a team looking to compete on several fronts.
Chelsea’s young attacking options may develop, but the former midfielder believes a seasoned presence like Osimhen could immediately elevate the team’s cutting edge and bring composure to crucial matches.
