‘Was not his fault’ - Lazio manager gives support to Dele Bashiru following Roma defeat
Baroni’s side lost 2-0 against a struggling AS Roma team at the Stadio Olimpico in the race for the Serie A title.
Dele-Bashiru, who has been superb for his team since joining on loan, failed to put in a top performance, as he did against Atalanta.
He was later substituted at halftime by his manager due to losing possession and failing to create significant scoring opportunities.
Baroni backs Dele Bashiru
Baroni refused to point the finger at Dele-Bashiru despite his lacklustre performance in their loss to Roma.
According to Radiosei.it, he said, "Dele is a guy we are building. The lower he starts, the better he works. This defeat was not his fault. Today, he lacked rhythm.”
He supported the Super Eagles midfielder and urged patience with his growth in remarks made following the game.
Dele-Bashiru found it difficult to contribute in the midfield, losing possession regularly and failing to generate meaningful scoring opportunities.
The Nigerian international only managed one shot, made one crucial pass, and was dispossessed three times while on the pitch.
Baroni made two halftime substitutions as a result of his difficulties but still went on to lose the game.
