After the match, an ecstatic Osimhen praised his team, referencing that they came into the game as underdogs, especially after the previous 5-1 defeat to Frankfurt

"Congratulations to the team," he said, per Haberturk. “It was a very tough opponent. Many people didn't believe we would win, except for the people you see here. I've been away from the team, but for me, this is the greatest team in the world! It was a great win for Galatasaray and for me."

Many of the detracting analyses after Galatasaray splashed the cash to sign Osimhen posited that a deep Champions League run was the only justification for the outlay. Helping them secure victory over Liverpool is certainly a way to "show" his value.

“The reason I came here was because of the fans. It's a great honor to have them support me like this. Thanks to them, I always play better. I love Galatasaray and the fans very much."
