‘Victor is the best centre forward in the world’ — Chelle names four clubs Osimhen can sign for
Nigeria national team coach Eric Chelle has described Victor Osimhen as the best centre forward in world football while also explaining the striker’s absence from the current Super Eagles squad.
With the summer transfer window wide open, Chelle believes it’s only a matter of time before Osimhen lands a blockbuster move.
Why Osimhen was left out of Nigeria’s June friendlies
When Victor Osimhen’s name didn’t appear on Nigeria’s squad list for the June internationals, it raised plenty of eyebrows.
However, coach Eric Chelle was quick to shut down any speculation, saying “Victor, for me, is the best centre forward in the world,” Chelle said, explaining his absence from the squad by adding, “The reality is that with the transfer window open, a player like him can’t be 100% focused.”
The Super Eagles coach noted that his decision wasn’t based on form or fitness, but rather out of respect for Osimhen’s delicate transfer situation, also adding, “I have to protect him physically and mentally because he will be transferred.”
With interest pouring in from major clubs across Europe, the decision to let Osimhen sit out Nigeria’s summer fixtures appears strategic.

Chelle also speculated on where Osimhen could end up next, saying, “Perhaps to a club like Manchester United. Or maybe Barcelona, Chelsea, or Real Madrid.”
While those are heavyweight names all with the need for a centre-forward like Osimhen, none have made a definitive move yet.
While Osimhen was electric on loan at Galatasaray, netting 37 goals in 41 matches, his €75m release clause and high wages remain stumbling blocks.
Barcelona, in particular, are unlikely to meet those demands, and both Chelsea and Manchester United have shifted focus toward cheaper alternatives.
Unless something changes fast, the Nigerian star might just pack his bags for Saudi Arabia, with Al Hilal patiently waiting.
