Van Dijk clarifies Liverpool future amid Klopp's departure

Virgil van Dijk has stepped forward to clarify his recent remarks about his future at Liverpool, emphasising his unwavering commitment to the club. In an exclusive interview with Sky in Germany, the Liverpool captain addressed the confusion surrounding his previous comments, asserting his dedication to the team and its supporters.

Van Dijk expressed that his words were "taken out of context," emphasising his deep-rooted affection for Liverpool. "To be 100 per cent clear, I am fully committed to the club. I love the club; I love the fans," he affirmed, dispelling any doubts about his allegiance. 

He stressed that recent discussions about his contract were irrelevant and that his sole focus remained on the team's success this season.

Following Jurgen Klopp's surprising announcement of his departure from Liverpool, Van Dijk echoed the sentiments shared by many within the club. He acknowledged the shockwaves caused by Klopp's decision, acknowledging the manager's influential role as a father figure to the squad.
