U.S President Donald Trump to watch Maresca's Chelsea in Club World Cup final
President Donald Trump announced at a Tuesday Cabinet meeting that he will attend the Club World Cup final on Sunday in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The expanded tournament serves as a test run for the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with 48 national teams.
The final at MetLife Stadium, also the 2026 World Cup final venue, will fature Chelsea, who are already through to the final against the winners of PSG against Real Madrid.
Trump told reporters, “I’ll be going to the game.”
FIFA President Gianni Infantino, announcing the Trump Tower office where the Club World Cup trophy is displayed, said,
“We have received such a big support from the government and the President with the White House Task Force for the FIFA Club World Cup (now) and for the FIFA World Cup next year.”
Trump, embracing sports’ spotlight in his second term, attended the Super Bowl in February and announced D.C. as the 2027 NFL Draft host in May.
