Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca believes as many as six clubs remain in contention for the Premier League title after another dramatic weekend of results.

Arsenal had built a six-point cushion at the top before visiting Stamford Bridge late in November, but their 1–1 draw with Chelsea slowed momentum.

Since then, both sides have dropped points, Arsenal falling 2–1 to Aston Villa, while Chelsea were forced to settle for a goalless draw against Bournemouth.

Manchester City have responded with three consecutive victories, cutting Arsenal’s lead to just two points. Villa sit third, three points off the summit, with fourth-placed Chelsea now eight points behind the leaders.

What Maresca said

Reflecting on the tight standings, Maresca insisted the title race remains wide open.

“The table is so tight. You win two games in a row, and you are there, lose two, and you drop. I still think four, five, six teams that are at the top can win and will all be close,” he said.

Defending champions Liverpool sit outside the top six after conceding a late equaliser in a thrilling 3–3 draw with Leeds United.

Liverpool currently sits eighth, 10 points behind Arsenal, after the leaders stumbled at Villa Park.
