Undefeated streak complete! Melissa Jefferson-Wooden storms to Championship Record to win world 100m title in Tokyo
From the start of the outdoor season, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden was a woman on a mission, and she finally delivered on the biggest stage, storming to a Championship Record (CR) to win the world 100m title in Tokyo.
The American speedster who has gone undefeated this year, completed the streak with an exceptional performance as she obliterated the stacked field in domineering form.
Jefferson-Wooden led from the start, leaving the rest of the field to do chasing, before blazing to the finish line in a new personal best and CR of 10.61s, thus smashing Sha'Carri Richardson's previous record of 10.65s recorded at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.
Her time also makes her the fourth-fastest woman in history and the third-fastest American woman ever.
