Ugandan Forward Lured to South Sudan After Stints Abroad
Ugandan international Martin Kizza Lubwama has completed a move to South Sudanese top-flight club El Merriekh SC Bentiu, signing a six-month contract.
The 28-year-old winger, who is comfortable on either flank, successfully passed his medical examination and is set to bring a new level of pace and urgency to the club. Kizza is known for his swift dribbling, accurate passing, and ability to shoot from various distances.
This transfer marks a new chapter in Kizza's diverse career, which has seen him play across several African leagues.
Kizza Is a Football Journeyman
Most recently, he was with Ethiopian Premier League side Fassil Kenema. His professional journey also includes stints in South Africa with Royal Eagles and Free State Stars.
Before moving abroad, Kizza was a prominent figure in Ugandan football, having played for major clubs such as Sports Club Villa, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Express, and Vipers.
A seasoned international, Kizza has earned 15 caps for the Uganda Cranes. He joins a growing contingent of Ugandan players in South Sudan, including Jude Ssemugabi and Motta, who play for Jamus FC, with others featuring for clubs like Malakia, Wajuma, Kator, and Atlabara.
