UFC: Israel Adesanya finally breaks silence on retirement after 'unthinkable' four-fight career skid
Israel Adesanya has declared he has no plans to retire despite suffering a shocking fourth consecutive defeat at UFC Fight Night in Seattle.
The former two-time UFC middleweight champion was stopped by rising American contender Joe Pyfer via second-round TKO on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Climate Pledge Arena.
The loss, which came at 4:18 of round two, has left many questioning the future of the 36-year-old Nigerian-New Zealander, who is now on a four-fight losing skid.
However, Adesanya was defiant in the Octagon immediately after the defeat.

“You keep going again, and again, and again, and again, and again. I’m not f****ng leaving. You’ll never stop me. I might get beat, but I’ll always remain undefeated.”
He later took to social media to send an emotional message to his fans, writing in a now-deleted post as reported by The Sun: “I know it’s hard on my people seeing me fall. I promise you it’s harder on me. Regardless, we respawn and go again.”
The collapse in Seattle marks the latest chapter in what has been a difficult period for Adesanya, who has not tasted victory since 2023.
Once considered one of the most dominant fighters in UFC history and already a Hall of Famer, the Nigerian star is now 24-6 in his professional MMA career.
While many pundits and even some fellow fighters have begun suggesting retirement, Adesanya’s latest update makes it clear he intends to continue fighting and attempt to turn his fortunes around.
As the dust settles on the UFC Seattle event, all eyes remain on what lies next for one of Africa’s greatest combat sports exports.
