Varane won four Champions League titles with Real Madrid before leaving the club in the summer of 2021 to join Manchester United but injuries blighted his time in England.
He was linked with various teams after he departed from United, but Fabrizio Romano reports he has a verbal agreement to join Como.
There are details on a contract to iron out, while Varane still has to undergo a medical, but the deal is 'on the verge' of completion.
Como's assistant manager, Cesc Fabregas, is believed to have played a vital role in the impending success of the deal.
