Barcelona youngster on the market

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder is not a prodigy like Pedri, Gavi, and Lamine Yamal and had to battle his way into first-team contention.

He was trusted by Hansi Flick last season and had an exceptional first-half of the campaign, amid injuries to Frenkie de Jong and Marc Bernal

However, with the return of Frenkie, Gavi playing in deeper positions and the imminent return of Marc Bernal, Casado has been relegated; hence, Barcelona view him as a sellable asset.

The Blaugrana are still scrambling to register their two main summer signings, Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford, and a major sale will aid that cause. Given the number of bodies readily available to the Blaugrana in midfield, Barcelona are willing to listen to offers for Casado

Chelsea were one of the teams monitoring Casado’s situation, but the team that has declared the most intent is Atletico Madrid, who are prepared to pay up to €40 million for the Spaniard.

Diario Sport reported today that North London giants Tottenham have now entered the race, as they view the diminutive pivot as a quality signing for the long season ahead, in which they are competing in the Champions League.

Casado is determined to continue at Barcelona, but the LALIGA champions are open to selling and will listen to reasonable offers.
