Transfer News: Juventus prepare #54bn bid for frustrated Barcelona player
Juventus are reportedly preparing a new bid for Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, with manager Igor Tudor making the Uruguayan a personal priority.
Juventus had previously attempted to sign Araujo in the winter transfer window, reportedly agreeing personal terms before the move fell through.
His current contract, signed until June 2031, includes a substantial release clause, but Barcelona are known to be open to negotiating lower fees if a sale is necessary.
Juventus want Araujo
According to Sport, the Old Lady are poised to submit an opening offer of €25-30 million.
The Italian heavyweights, managed by Tudor, believe the Catalan giants might accept a lower fee than his €70 million July release clause, given the fierce competition within their squad and manager Hansi Flick's apparent preference for other centre-backs.
Barcelona's sporting director, Deco, has also indicated that at least one central defender will likely leave the club before next season, pointing to the departure of the Uruguayan.
What’s next for Juventus?
Juventus will face Real Madrid in the round of 16 at the Club World Cup, with the victor taking on Borussia Dortmund or Monterrey in the quarter-finals.
