Transfer News: Chelsea reduce asking price for 27-year-old FLOP
Enzo Maresca's Chelsea have slashed their asking price for Christopher Nkunku, who is a potential target for Manchester United this summer.
The 27-year-old forward has struggled to cement a regular spot at Stamford Bridge since his £52 million transfer from RB Leipzig in 2023.
Last season, Nkunku started only nine Premier League matches and was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s Conference League final victory over Real Betis in May.
Manchester United, seeking to enhance Ruben Amorim’s attack after signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, are in the market for a new forward.
The Athletic reports that Chelsea, who initially valued Nkunku at £65 million, are now willing to accept £43 million.
Speaking at the Club World Cup last month, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca left the door open for Nkunku’s future, saying,
“If Christo is here with us, it is because we think he can help us and he can be with us even next season. But as you said, there are many speculations, not just about Christo, about many players.”
