After the game, one of the club's greatest figures, Steven Gerrard, pulled no punches in his assessment of the result at Anfield.

Steven Gerrard slams Liverpool's draw against Burnley

Speaking to TNT Sports following Liverpool's frustrating 1-1 draw with 19th-place Burnley on Saturday, the former captain didn't hide his disappointment as the Reds' winless streak in the Premier League stretched to four matches.

While head coach Arne Slot has managed to steady the ship with a 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions, Gerrard pointed out that the frequent stalemates against lower-tier opposition are undermining the club’s top-four ambitions.

“A draw with Burnley at home is unacceptable, with all due respect,” Gerrard told TNT Sports.

“We are being critical of the Liverpool team even though they are on a better run of unbeaten games, but the draw against the likes of Leeds and Burnley at home, you and I know those results are unacceptable.”

Gerrard warned that the manager must now brace himself for a renewed wave of scrutiny. “There will be a lot of criticism coming the manager's way again after this result,” the legendary midfielder added.

Liverpool now turn their attention to two away trips; Marseille in the UEFA Champions League in midweek and Bournemouth at the weekend.
