Brazilian centre-back Thiago Silva has signed an agreement with Premier League club Chelsea for an extension on his contract for one more year according to the club.
Chelsea extend Thiago Silva's contract for one more year
The 38-year-old defender will now be with Chelsea for a fourth year after initially signing for the club on a one-year deal in 2020.
He has also expressed his awe at being able to stay at the top level with Chelsea for four years when he would have been expected to stay for only the initial one year, or maybe two.

“When I signed my first contract here, it was to just do one year. Now it is already the fourth! It’s very special moment for me to sign and stay at Chelsea.” He said after signing the extension that will see him continue as a Blue until at least 2024.
Thiago Silva still going strong at 38
Despite being years past what is supposed to be his physical peak, Thiago Sila has still managed to maintain his standing as one of Chelsea’s most important defenders.
He has played in 19 of Chelsea’s 22 Premier League matches in the 2022/23 season, missing only three games and captaining the team on four occasions.
He has also been one of the team’s better performers and has been largely spared of criticism despite Chelsea being ninth in the league and crashing out of both domestic cups in defeats to Manchester City.
Chelsea are hoping that they can get at least one more season out of Thiago Silva and bank on his leadership and experience to see them through this tough transition period.
