They will regret it in 10 years — Ex-Liverpool star slams PSG fans for Messi treatment
Former Barcelona defender and midfielder Javier Mascherano is the latest to hit Paris Saint-Germain fans for their public anti-Messi chants and actions.
The now-retired star, who was Messi's teammate at Argentina and Barcelona, believes the fans of the Paris-based club will regret their actions in the future.
What Mascherano said
The former Argentina captain, who spent eight seasons with Messi at Barcelona, winning two Champions League titles together, believes PSG fans do not realise the honour of having a player of such stature wear their colours.
He forecasts that in a decade, the PSG fans will see the error of their ways and regret not enjoying the moment they have with Messi instead of criticising him.
The former West Ham man concluded that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner should leave the club and go where he would be happy and better appreciated.
“It’s a shame to not realise the kind of player they were lucky to have in their team,” Mascherano said, per GFFN.
“I think that, ten years ago, no PSG fan could have imagined they would have the best player in history in their team. And instead of appreciating him, they spent two years criticising him.
“In ten years, they will regret it. Any team in the world would give anything to have him for five minutes.
“If there is one thing that cannot be criticised, it is his professionalism. It is impossible to criticise him. Let him go with his family where he is happy.”
