‘They just keep bleeding’ - Liverpool legend slams team’s display following PSV defeat
The Reds were beaten 4-1 at home by PSV on Wednesday night in the fifth round of the UEFA Champions League.
They have now lost their last three matches by a three-goal margin and have been defeated in nine of their last 12 games.
The team’s poor performance has added more pressure on Arne Slot’s position at the club , with many calling for his sacking.
Gerrard reacts to Liverpool’s loss
Speaking as a pundit for TNT Sports at Anfield, Gerrard analysed the team's catastrophic form, which marks their worst run since 1953.
"Crisis is a very strong word and disrespectful to some of the players that have delivered for this football club," he stated.
"But you can't deny the team is struggling massively, they're on a terrible run, confidence is at an all-time low and they just keep bleeding."
Gerrard warned that the situation could worsen if solutions are not found quickly. "Unless the managers can find answers and stability in the team, it's going to continue," he added.
The former captain singled out summer signing Milos Kerkez for his defensive positioning, which he found particularly egregious.
"It's criminal to be on that side of the attacker. You have to be on the inside. He gives himself no chance," Gerrard explained, highlighting a moment where the defender was easily beaten.
He also pointed to broader tactical issues plaguing the team. "They're conceding too many goals, they're wide open in transition. [They] look very vulnerable and unstable as soon as the ball turns over."
