Mohamed Salah has come under heavy fire from fans after an unwanted Premier League record by the Liverpool star surfaced, sparking jokes that the £400k-a-week forward has effectively “dropped his boots.”

The 33-year-old was on the pitch for the full 90 minutes but struggled to make the impact fans are accustomed to from the Egyptian king.

He completed just 70% of his passes, created three chances, and had only one shot on target.

His crossing and long-ball accuracy were also poor, completing zero out of seven crosses and no long balls, raising eyebrows and concerns online.

Social media was ablaze with reactions as fans commented sharply on Salah's apparent dip in form.

“Saudi is calling,” one remark went, alluding to rumoured moves to the Saudi Pro League.

Another quipped, “Bro got that 400K quid contract and dropped his boots. Disgusting work ethic but I respect the move,” highlighting frustration with what many view as a decline in effort at Liverpool.

Criticism also targeted his dribbling style, with a fan noting, “Dribbles ain’t for Salah anymore. He kept just running straight with the ball to the defender.”

Liverpool’s forward line was also criticised for tactical issues, with some fans singling out Cody Gakpo’s poor performance alongside Salah’s struggles, saying “On the other side of the pitch, Gakpo is doing worse. Both shouldn’t be starting games at the same time.”
