Returning from the international break, Liverpool suffered a disappointing loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

The Reds head into the game hoping to get back to winning ways following their 3-0 thrashing by Manchester City last time out.

However, they were met by a reformed Forest team who handed them a 3-0 defeat, further piling pressure on Arne Slot.

The loss makes it their sixth defeat in the Premier League this season, leaving the managers worried about his position at the club.

As it happened

Liverpool boss Arne Slot made five changes to the side that was beaten 3-0 by Man City in their last Premier League game.

Alisson returned from injury to start in goal, while Milos Kerkez, Curtis Jones, Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo made the starting 11.

Sean Dyche, on the other hand, decided not to make any changes to the Nottingham Forest side that beat Leeds 3-1 last time out.

It was not the start Slot expected from his team after bursting forward to get the first goal of the game.

However, it was the visitors who struck first from a corner kick, which Liverpool failed to deal with and Murillo got to the end of the ball to strike first. Forest got the second goal, but it was ruled out for a handball in the build-up.

Entering the second half, the away team doubled their lead after Neco Williams got to the byline and cut it back for Nicolo Savona to fire beyond Alisson.

Forest ended Liverpool’s hope of a comeback with the third goal, with Morgan Gibbs-White latching onto a rebound.

Following the final whistle, Liverpool dropped to 11th position on the league table, tied on points with Manchester United, who are yet to play.
