The future looks really bright for Liverpool with players like Salah — Slot excited by Egyptian King
Mohamed Salah continues to set the standard at Liverpool, and manager Arne Slot believes the club’s future is shining because of players like him.
The Egyptian forward once again delivered in a 3-0 FA Cup win over Brighton, reinforcing his status as the team’s talisman.
Salah’s numbers tell the story
Since the start of last season, Salah has both scored and assisted in 15 different games across all competitions, nine more than any other Premier League player in that period.
His influence remains unmatched, with the forward regularly deciding matches through goals and creativity.
Against Brighton, Salah found the net, registered an assist, and even won a penalty, only the third time in his 428-game Liverpool career that he has achieved all three feats in a single match.
The previous two instances came in back-to-back appearances against Newcastle and Arsenal in December 2018, underlining just how rare and special such performances are.
Slot praises work rate and intensity
While the goals grab headlines, Slot was quick to emphasise another side of Salah’s game. “It’s very nice to have him on the scoresheet again and him having an assist,” Slot said. “But I think what I like the most at the moment… he also helps the team a lot defensively.”
The Dutch coach pointed to Liverpool’s improved intensity levels in recent weeks. “That is where we struggled a lot in the beginning of the season,” he admitted, before adding: “That’s why I’ve said so many times already that the future looks really bright for this club with these players.”
Despite Slot’s admission, Salah’s future at Liverpool hangs in the balance. Although he has more than a year left inhis current contract, the Egyptian forward has been linked with a move away from Anfield after tensions with Slot earlier in the season.
