‘Thank you father’ - Man Utd fans celebrate Amorim's sacking
Manchester United have dismissed head coach Ruben Amorim after a turbulent 14-month spell in charge, sparking jubilant reactions from parts of the club’s fanbase online.
The Portuguese coach, appointed in November 2024 to replace Erik ten Hag, leaves Old Trafford following a string of disappointing results.
United finished a disastrous 15th in the 2024–25 Premier League season, suffered a Europa League final defeat, and currently sit sixth in the top flight.
Fans' reaction surges on social media
Within minutes of the club’s official announcement, sections of the United support took to X to applaud the decision, with some supporters using the phrase “Thank you, father”

Rúben Amorim SACKED after a run of shocking, poor results.
No tactics, no identity, no excuses, just disappointment week after week.
Football is a results business, and the board has finally pulled the plug.
End of an era. Time to rebuild. ⚽💥
Thank God.

I support the move. He has been giving us mediocrity of a game back to back
