Arsenal have been strong contenders for the Premier League title over the past two seasons, pushing Manchester City all the way.

Mikel Arteta deserves credit for turning the Gunners into one of the best teams in Europe while making them defensively sound.

Last summer's signings, Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino, aimed to challenge Manchester City's dominance.

According to the Daily Mail, Arteta is ready to fix that problem and will convince the club to trigger West Ham forward Mohamed Kudus' £85m release clause to address their goal-scoring woes.

Kudus impressed with 18 goals in his debut season with the Hammers but has managed only two goals this campaign.

The Gunners are fourth in the Premier League standings, 9 points off leaders Liverpool, and Arteta knows they cannot afford to slip up even further.

Kudus may be expensive but he will instantly become the team's second-best forward behind Bukayo Saka, and an upgrade on Arteta's options.
