Everton winger Toni Payne continued her impressive recent form by providing the assist that sealed a stunning 1–0 victory over Chelsea in their Women’s Super League clash on Sunday.
The result ended Chelsea’s long unbeaten run in the league, with the Blues suffering their first WSL defeat since May 2024, when Liverpool beat them.
It also extended Everton’s own unbeaten stretch following last weekend’s win against Newcastle United.

The Super Falcons midfielder pounced on a loose touch to bury the winner in a feisty clash vs Newcastle at Gateshead.

The decisive moment arrived inside the opening 10 minutes as Payne delivered a precise pass for Honoka Hayashi, who calmly converted what eventually proved to be the match-winner.

Payne, has been in impressive form, having scored and provided an assist in Everton’s previous match. She was substituted in the 67th minute after another influential display.
Everton Climb the Table
The victory lifted Brian Sørensen’s side up to ninth place in the WSL standings, giving them an important boost ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.
Everton will now look to build on their momentum when they host Arsenal in their next outing.
Chelsea, meanwhile, will have to regroup after seeing their unbeaten run ended unexpectedly.
