Super Eagles striker Dessers overcomes injury, set for imminent return
Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has returned to the training pitch after recovering from an injury sustained during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Nigerian forward is now expected to make an imminent return to club action following his rehabilitation.
Dessers finally back on the pitch
Dessers’ injury occurred while preparing for Nigeria’s final group-stage match against Uganda at AFCON 2025 in Morocco, forcing him to miss the remainder of the tournament.
Following the setback, he returned to his club in Greece to begin a structured rehabilitation programme, which saw him miss six league matches.
The striker has now stepped onto the field for light training, performing running drills and individual exercises as part of his recovery process.
The club confirmed this milestone on their official website, highlighting the forward’s progress and signalling optimism for his return ahead of the upcoming clash against Athlitiki Enosi Larissa.
Dessers aiming to return to form after injury
Before his injury, Dessers had already begun to make his mark in Greece following his summer transfer from Rangers.
In just five league appearances, the Nigerian striker had scored two goals and provided an assist, showcasing his attacking prowess and quick adaptation to the new league.
His return is expected to bolster the team’s offensive options significantly, providing a boost as the club looks to maintain momentum in the league.
Fans and teammates alike will be eager to see him back in full action, ready to continue contributing at both club and international levels.
