The 27-year-old winger has had bouts with injuries recently. He missed 11 games last season due to an injury that halted his incredible run

Ejuke failed to recover top form for the remainder of last season, and this approaching campaign was billed to bear good things for the Nigerian. However, he has now suffered a setback.

Ejuke’s new injury

Sevilla announced today that Ejuke had sustained an injury to his right thigh, and his return date would be determined after further tests have been carried out.

“Chidera Ejuke has suffered a myofascial injury to the adductor longus of his right thigh,” the Sevilla statement read.  ”The Nigerian, who was travelling to Marseille as part of the team's squad for the new preseason friendly, will therefore be ruled out for the match and is pending further evaluation before rejoining the squad."

Ejuke was one of the top performers in LALIGA last season before an injury last October halted his progress. The Nigerian hurt his hamstring and did not return to action until the turn of the new year.

He struggled to reclaim his place in the squad as the guaranteed starter on the left wing, and when he did start, he never managed to reach the level of performance he showed before his injury.
